The Fourteenth Annual Tools Scholarship Award Dinner was held Thursday, May 9th at Ralph Stump;e's Man Cave in Florence. Since 2011 Shoals Mustangs has awarded scholarships to support graduating high school students in the Shoals area that have shown outstanding performance during their vocational training and are interested in pursuing careers in the automotive and/or mechanical fields.
In the last thirteen years, the club worked with the automotive technology section of various area schools. The club was unable to hold the event in 2020 due COVID-19.
President Tim Vandiver had the instructors introduced their students followed by the rewarding of the tool sets. Students included: Victor Vazquer, Eli Mason, and Michael Chitwood. from Muscle Shoals Tech Center; Hunter Liles, Chayse Thomas, and Lance Hopper from Allen Thornton Tech Center; Lucas Reigler and Scarlett Burgess from Allen Thornton Auto Body Class; Les Weaver, Zain Holland, and Dalton Ridge from Franklin County Tech Center.
Students are given tool kits to help get them on their way. Presentation of these scholarships takes place at our monthly meeting in May. Extreme Auto Design in Muscle Shoals helps sponsor this project.
